In a thrilling showdown at the Taipei Heping Gymnasium, the Anyang KGC defeated the Rain or Shine E-Painters, 87-77, in the 42nd William Jones Cup.
Ji Hoon Park and Du’Vaughn Maxwell led the way for Anyang KGC, scoring 25 points and 15 points, respectively. Park also had 5 rebounds and 3 assists, while Maxwell had 9 rebounds.
Rain or Shine was led by Andre Caracut, who had 19 points. Ange Kouame had a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Anyang KGC led by as much as 20 points in the first half, but Rain or Shine fought back to cut the deficit to 63-73 in the fourth quarter. However, Anyang KGC was able to pull away in the final minutes to secure the victory.
With the win, Anyang KGC improved to 4-1 in the tournament. They are now in second place, behind the University of Irvine (5-0).
Rain or Shine fell to 1-5 in the tournament. They will have a chance to get back on track on Saturday when they face the U-22 team from Japan.
The 42nd William Jones Cup is an international basketball tournament held in Taiwan. The tournament features teams from Asia, North America, and Oceania.
