Exciting Lakers news has just come in – unfortunately, it’s not great news for starting point guard D’Angelo Russell. According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, Russell has been forced to exit the ongoing game against the Houston Rockets due to a sore left foot and won’t return for the rest of the night. But fear not, Lakers fans – backup Dennis Schröder, the starting point guard for most of the season before D-Lo joined the team two months ago, will be taking over starting duties for the second half against his old team.
Russell had a decent first half, scoring six points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field (all three-pointers), with four assists and three rebounds. Currently, the Lakers are leading 70-60 at the break.
Although Schröder is a solid replacement, if Russell’s injury persists, it could severely impact the team’s playoff hopes. Russell has recently missed games due to a rolled ankle and sore hip, and this new left ankle injury adds to his list of ailments. Lakers fans are hoping for a speedy recovery.
