Luka Doncic put on a show in Slovenia’s 104-100 victory over Montenegro in a FIBA World Cup preparation game on Tuesday.
Doncic finished with 34 points, 14 assists, and 13 rebounds for his second triple-double of the summer. He also had a game-high +21 plus-minus rating.
In the final quarter of the game, basketball player Doncic showcased his remarkable skills by scoring 11 points and providing four assists, leading Slovenia to a comeback victory despite being behind 97-94. Doncic sealed the win with a spectacular 3-pointer shot, made with only 54 seconds remaining on the clock. Klemen Prepelic also played a significant role in the game, contributing 17 points, while Mike Tobey racked up a double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Montenegro was led by Vladimir Mihailovic, who scored 26 points. Nikola Vucevic had 14 rebounds and six assists, but only managed to make 5 out of 14 field goal attempts. Slovenia won their second game out of three in the summer exhibition games. Their final practice game before the World Cup will be against the United States on August 13th.
Doncic’s performance against Montenegro was a reminder of why he is considered one of the best players in the world. He is a dominant force on both ends of the court, and he can take over a game at any moment.
Slovenia is a dark horse contender to win the World Cup, and Doncic will be a major reason why. He is the type of player who can lead his team to a championship, and he will be a force to be reckoned with in Spain next month.
