Scottie Thompson graduates from college after missing out on Gilas China trip

Scottie Thompson, the reigning PBA MVP, graduated from the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Due to a broken hand, the 30-year-old guard couldn’t join the recent mini-tournament in China with Gilas Pilipinas. But he didn’t let that stop him and still managed to get a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing Management.

Thompson was one of 671 graduates who received their diplomas at the Plenary Hall of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex. He was also honored with the Dr/BGen Antonio Laperal Tamayo Leadership Plaque for Sports and Athletics.

In a speech during the commencement exercise, Thompson thanked his family, friends, and coaches for their support. He also said that he was grateful for the opportunity to graduate from college.

“This is a dream come true,” Thompson said. “I never thought that I would be able to graduate from college, especially while playing professional basketball. But I am so glad that I was able to make it happen.”

Thompson’s graduation is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He has always been a top student, even while playing basketball at a high level. He is an inspiration to aspiring athletes and students alike.
